Broadview makes a great gift idea and gift subscriptions are available for only $20 each (plus taxes)! Gift subscriptions are handled and processed directly by Broadview magazine since they are separate from your regular group subscription. We appreciate any assistance you’d like to give congregants in processing their gift orders as follows, or you can direct them to broadview.org/giftsubs:

    1. Go to Broadview.org/giftsubs
    2. Enter the name and address of the gift-giving donor and that of the gift recipient(s)

  9. What is the subscription price?

The special discounted group subscription price of $25.00 per subscription for 8 issues annually is the lowest price available for Broadview magazine. Issues now contain 16 more pages than they did before Broadview’s relaunch in 2019. Prior to 2021, 10 issues per year were published. In 2021 we have reduced the frequency to 8 times a year.

Every year, your can host free Trial subscriptions that can start at any time during the year! So, if you have a visitor or even someone who has been attending your church for a while but hasn’t yet subscribed, we encourage you to enroll them for a Free Trial subscription. Their name will then appear on your group renewal list next time to decide whether to continue with a paid subscription. Just email us at groupsubscriptions@broadview.org and we will set them up for you.

The number of Free Trials you can provide each year is based on your group’s subscription count:

    21 to 30 active subs4 trial subscriptions
31 or more subs5 trial subscriptions

In March 2021, we changed Broadview’s frequency from 10 issues to 8 issues, but we are serving the remaining issues that were on file from your group’s 2020 order and this will mean that the group expiry date has changed. GENERAL MAGAZINE QUESTIONS

  1. Why did The United Church Observer change to Broadview?

In 2019, after doing a year of research, the publisher, board of directors and editorial staff decided to make some changes – both in print and online – to ensure that we have an informative and engaging magazine to enjoy for years to come.

This is the publication’s fourth name in its 190-year history. We felt that the name Broadview is more relevant for today’s readers and highlights both the open-mindedness and inclusivity that define today’s United Church of Canada. Aside from the name change, the biggest difference between The United Church Observer and Broadview is the new look and feel. Broadview has more articles, photos, and illustrations than The United Church Observer, and features 16 additional pages in each issue.

  2. Do I still get my United Church of Canada news and perspectives?

About a quarter of Broadview is devoted to United Church news and perspectives. These stories appear in a section called “United Church in Focus”. The rest of the pages of Broadview bring a progressive Christian lens to spirituality, ethical living and social justice issues.
